The Institut Louis Bachelier, in cooperation with the Fondation du Risque and the Europlace Institute of Finance is pleased to invite you to the 20th Financial Risks International Forum, an international research forum bringing together academics, professionals, and regulators to discuss the latest developments in financial risk research.

This year’s forum will celebrate two decades of innovation in the field under the theme:

“New Risks for a New Era: 20 Years of Innovation in Financial Risk Research”

Over the past two decades, financial risk research has been reshaped by technological innovation, recurring crises, and the growing complexity of markets, institutions, and financial infrastructures. From the global financial crisis and the rise of digital finance to the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence and the growing urgency of climate-related challenges, the financial landscape has undergone profound transformations, giving rise to new forms of vulnerability.

Today, emerging risks are increasingly interconnected, nonlinear, and difficult to capture using traditional analytical frameworks. AI and cyber threats, geopolitical fragmentation, sovereign debt sustainability, climate transition, digital assets, and evolving monetary and regulatory regimes are creating new challenges for financial institutions, markets, and policymakers.

The 20th Financial Risks International Forum will explore these evolving challenges, bringing together leading scholars and experts to examine how financial risk research has advanced over the past 20 years and how it can continue to address the uncertainties of a rapidly changing world. The forum will foster discussions on innovative approaches to identifying, measuring, modeling, and mitigating emerging risks across the financial system.
