19th FINANCIAL RISKS INTERNATIONAL FORUM

Paris, March 30 & 31, 2026

The Institut Louis Bachelier, in cooperation with the Fondation du Risque and the Europlace Institute of Finance is pleased to invite you to the 19th Financial Risks International Forum.

This year’s forum will focus on the theme:

“Hidden Financial Risks”

Academic research in finance and insurance has been profoundly transformed by technological progress, deeper global integration, and successive financial crises that have exposed the limits of traditional models.

The rise of quantitative finance and high-frequency trading, the 2008 global financial crisis, the rapid growth of alternative data and Artificial Intelligence, and the emergence of decentralized finance have revealed risks that were poorly understood and significantly underestimated.

Today, “hidden financial risks” — risks that are opaque, nonlinear, emergent, model-dependent, or embedded in new infrastructures and business models — require renewed attention from both academics and practitioners.

The 19th Financial Risks International Forum will explore these challenges, bringing together leading scholars and experts to deepen our understanding of hidden risks across markets, institutions, and financial infrastructures, and to discuss new approaches to detecting, modeling, and mitigating vulnerabilities that escape conventional analytical tools.

2026 Guest Speakers are:
Monica BILLIO, Ca' Foscari University of Venice
 • Matteo IACOVIELLO, Division of International Finance, Federal Reserve Board
 • Markus LEIPPOLD, ETH Zurich, University of Zurich
